finger puppets

This week out task was to produce a short film we were asked to make a 30 second clip highlighting a topic which exemplified overcoming adversity and sent a message to possible consumers of that area. My group decided to go with highlighting the actions of the binge drinking culture which is very relevant to us being students in an age where it is completely normal go out two to three times a week and drink excessive amounts. My group wanted to send a message which we thought many may be able to relate to, choosing common ‘characters’ of an intoxicated person which consumers may have been able to relate to. In doing this we hoped to get the audience thinking about whether they had ever been like that or were like that often, sending a message to them and making them re evaluate their drinking habits.

Before we started actually filming we made a story board of what scenes we would have any writing we would have in between and just an overall plan of what we wanted to achieve. We then made the background sets of Monday to Sunday. We didn’t have any actual speaking in it which made it both easier in the sense that we didn’t have to spend lots of time writing a script but also harder in the sense that we would need to be very clear in our illustrations of the point we were trying to get across. Having the storyboard and overall plan  meant that the filming of the clip was actually really fast and was really beneficial in the production of our short film as we knew where we wanted to go and what steps we needed to take to get there.
